Welcome to the Homepage of BAYS - Bay Area Youth Sailing!

Sailing is a blast, and it is much more accessible and affordable than many people think! The mission of BAYS is to encourage and promote the growth of junior sailing and racing in Northern California. Focused on children and teens ages eight to eighteen, BAYS is founded on the premise that sailing is unique in the developmental opportunities it offers to young people. In addition to sheer fun and the opportunity to develop life-long boat handling and racing skills, sailing builds character through its time-honored emphasis on self-reliance, teamwork and sportsmanship.

BAYS News:

The PCISA high school sailing season reached the halfway mark with the 23rd annual Rose Bowl Regatta, held January 5th and 6th at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club. The event was hosted by the USC Sailing Team and organized by the US Sailing Center of Long Beach. Participants included 52 high schools from all over California, including over a dozen Northern California teams who made the trip Long Beach, California to test their skills against the perennial powerhouse high school teams of Southern California. The high school gold fleet competition saw Point Loma High sail to an impressive 37 point win over second place finisher and archrival Newport Harbor High, with the Silver fleet competition going to Redondo Union High. All the remaining 2007/2008 PCISA High School regattas, including both state-wide and NorCal only regattas, are noted on the “Schedule” tab on this BAYS web site.
