Welcome to the Homepage of BAYS - Bay Area Youth Sailing!

Sailing is a blast, and it is much more accessible and affordable than many people think! The mission of BAYS is to encourage and promote the growth of junior sailing and racing in Northern California. Focused on children and teens ages eight to eighteen, BAYS is founded on the premise that sailing is unique in the developmental opportunities it offers to young people. In addition to sheer fun and the opportunity to develop life-long boat handling and racing skills, sailing builds character through its time-honored emphasis on self-reliance, teamwork and sportsmanship.

BAYS News

Fall 2011 is a busy time for youth sailing in the Bay Area! High School sailors are competing in the 2011-12 school season, racing in both NorCue regattas, and PCISA District-wide regattas. High School sailing continues to grow, as evidenced by the attendance at the third NorCal regatta of the season, where 67 high school teams competed in an exciting day of racing at Encinal Yacht Club in October!

Beyond High School sailing, traditional junior sailing opportunities also abound, with juniors racers welcomed at area fall and winter dinghy events at Richmond Yacht Club and St. Francis Yacht Club. To find out about upcoming dates for Junior and High School sailing regattas in the Bay Area, please see our Schedule link on this BAYS website.
