Welcome to the Homepage of BAYS - Bay Area Youth Sailing!
Sailing is a blast, and it is much more accessible and affordable than many people think! The mission of BAYS is to encourage and promote the growth of junior sailing and racing in Northern California. Focused on children and teens ages eight to eighteen, BAYS is founded on the premise that sailing is unique in the developmental opportunities it offers to young people. In addition to sheer fun and the opportunity to develop life-long boat handling and racing skills, sailing builds character through its time-honored emphasis on self-reliance, teamwork and sportsmanship.
BAYS News - Regatta Report – BAYS #5
The 2008 BAYS summer race series came to an exciting conclusion as Tiburon Yacht Club played host to BAYS #5 over Labor Day weekend - the final stop of the five regatta season championships. The regatta was a real treat for sailors and spectators alike, as great weather, a beautiful venue and an outstanding job by all the TYC volunteers combined to put a perfect punctuation on a highly successful BAYS season. In all, 101 junior sailors competed hard, demonstrated great sportsmanship, and simply had a blast throughout the weekend – thanks, Tiburon YC!
For the BAYS summer series, overall participation continued to be strong, averaging 66 boats at each of the 5 regattas. The BAYS perpetual trophies were won by the following Bay Area junior sailors:

With the summer season at an end, focus now turns to High School sailing, and BAYS wishes all of our NorCal HS sailing teams the best of success in the ‘08/’09 season ahead.
